The masai mara safari The Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourism destinations in East Africa. Covering an area of over 1,500 square km, the reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland. Wildlife tends to be most concentrated on the reserve's western escarpment... The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya's wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeests migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in mid July and departing mid November. There have been several species of mammals and birds species recorded in the masai mara reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino). However wildebeest are by far the dominant inhabitants of the Masai Mara. The Masai Mara is home to a great wildlife. Their numbers are estimated in the millions. The Great Migration starts in mid July each year when well over one million wildebeest along with large numbers of other wildlife migrate from the Serengeti plains in Tanzania to fresh pastures in the north and then back south again in mid November.. Kenya Day 1 Nairobi/Amboseli Depart 08:00hrs at Nairobi and drive through Masai land via Namaga boarder to Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro . Lunch enroute. A late afternoon game drive is taken enroute to the camp. Dinner and overnight at the Tortilis tented camp . Day 2. Amboseli national Park - Morning and afternoon game viewing.This Park is a photogenic Park and hosts great number of game including the lion, elephant and the splendid cheetah. Meals and overnight at camp. Day 3. Amboseli/Tsavo Early morning game drive at 0600hrs before breakfast. After breakfast leave for Tsavo National Park . Lunch and afternoon game drive is taken with a visit to the Mzima Springs. Dinner and overnight at Finch hunton luxury tented camp. Day 4. Tsavo/Nairobi After breakfast leave for Nairobi with game drive enroute to arrive by lunchtime in the city's restaurant. In the afternoon you will be taken to Bomas of Kenya to watch Traditional dances. Overnight at Nairobi Safari Club hotel. Day 5  Nairobi/Lake Naivasha After breakfast, leave for Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley . This Lake is a good site for bird watchers. You will enjoy boat rides here. All meals and overnight at camp. Day 6. Naivasha/Masai Mara 0800hrs after breakfast leave for Masai Mara through Narok to reach by lunch time. After lunch, game drive and viewing where you are sure to come across the big five. All meals and overnight at  mara simba tented camp. Day 7. Masai Mara. Full day in Search for wild game including black manned lion for which Mara is known for, cheetah, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, leopard, grants gazelle are quite seen, even the rare rhino , hyenas are plentiful, Extend your drive to the hippo point where ponds of hippo submerge on the approach of vehicles only to surface seconds later to shot and gamble their displeasure as the crocodiles sunbathe on the river banks.Afterwards there is an optional visit to the maasai villages for an insight to their culture.Dinner and Overnight at camp. Day 8  Masai Mara/Nairobi Early morning game drive before breakfast. After breakfast, we return to Nairobi via Narok to reach by lunch time.After your lunch you may decide to be at leisure for a few hours and then depart to the airport for your flight home.
